Norbert Frensch Malerei Schwarz und Grau

Norbert Frensch (*1960) devotes his painting to exploring the process by which things become visible. At the focus of his up to 1.9-meter high and 3.6-meter wide oil paintings is not what is depicted, but instead how the motif gradually manifests itself to us. His "Black Pictures" fascinate with their shiny reflective surfaces, drawing attention to the contrast between light and dark, to the density of color and the transparency of space. The more recent "Gray Pictures" as well, along with the artists pastels, captivate the observer with their oscillation between ostensible flatness and perspectival depth.
