Thorbjørn Lausten Magnet Visual Systems

Visual art has always had to do with visualizing things that are invisible. For the past several years Danish light and media artist Thorbjørn Lausten has dedicated himself to putting scientific data into visual form in the context of art, science and media. In his latest project, Magnet, he works with institutes that give him with real-time access to geomagnetic and meteorological measurement data. Lausten artistically processes this data and makes it visible in the form of projections. These projections then represent a kind of interface between the original energy and the information gleaned from it. Lausten's visualizations of digital measurement data evolve into concrete "color films" shown simultaneously in the ZKM | Karlsruhe, the Museet for Samtidskunst Roskilde and the Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum Aalborg.
