Unbelichtet Münchner Fotografen im Exil

Featuring the first comprehensive bio-bibliographic lexicon of Jewish photographers who lived and worked in Munich, the book also illuminates the works of three photographers: Alfons Himmelreich, Efrem Ilani and Jakob Rosner. All three emigrated in the 1930s to what was at the time Palestine and documented the exciting development of that country over the subsequent decades with their photography. The images show the development of the young state from the point of view of the immigrant. The three photographers depict Palestine / Israel as the pulsating center of their lives, a country where the daily routine is largely shaped by work, as reflected in these documentary and industrial images. Unbelichtet. Münchner Fotografen im Exil (Unexposed. Munich Photographers in Exile) accompanies an exhibition at the Jewish Museum in Munich from February to May 2010.
