17 artists were nominated for the Third Art Prize of the Archdiocese of Freiburg. They offer a wide variety of perspectives on this year's theme, grace, highlighting the many different ways in which a religious term can be understood today and represented using multiple media. From videos to installations to paintings, all art genres are represented. The Art Prize of the Archdiocese of Freiburg considers itself a forum where art, religion, and public life meet. The catalog embodies this principle. In the first section, interviews with the directors of the exhibiting institutions outline the backdrop against which the respective presentations are taking place. The art theorist Silvia Henke looks at the representational process in relation to art and religion, while the theologian Pascal Schmitt positions the different artists' interpretations of grace within theological discourse.
