Adrian Schiess' "Flat Works," which he has recently started calling "Painting" instead, have become a frequently misinterpreted trademark of the artist, automatically ascribed to monochromatic painting or Concrete Art. But they are in fact fragments of the project "Painting," which always occupies itself "with images, internal and external, figures, representation, space, time, location, place, states of being, surfaces, appearances, brilliance, realities."
