There are devastating secrets we inherit and leave to our descendants over generations, the ones we cannot or do not want to remember but which are stuck deep inside our emotional memory. When they are kept in the dark, we continue to build on rotten grounds and – intentionally or unintentionally – slowly start creating and accumulating our own secrets. Do not Cover is a body of work that brings to light the multiple layers of traumatic experiences, floating between the past and the present and alternating perspectives from that of an adult to that of a child. Aija Svensson (b. 1980 in Tampere) is a Finnish documentary and freelance photographer living in Southern Sweden. Her focus lies on long term documentary projects, which are often about personal or social issues.
