Product information "Candace Plummer Gaudiani"

"The worlds that pass before our eyes (in nostalgic black and white) could be right out of a Jack Kerouac novel." LensCulture By the age of twelve, Candace Plummer Gaudiani had visited forty-eight states by car and train. Today, her photo series explores what it means to be part of and sometimes estranged from the places we hold in our memories. The ambiguity of belonging, longing and estrangement led to the artist's choice of framing each image through a train window. Between Destinations combines moody black and white images, capturing a seemingly timeless American landscape, with sensual, saturated colors of spring and autum, which lend a heightened reality to the passing terrain. We are on the inside looking out, reaffirming that we are always between destinations, from birth to the end. Candace Plummer Gaudiani has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Her work is in many public collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, George Eastman House, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, D.C., Harry Ransom Center for the Humanities, Austin Texas, Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada.
