Product information "Carol Rama"

Italian artist Carol Rama (1918-2015) developed her work consisting mainly of paintings, drawings and collages in Turin since the 1930s. Her early works are marked by a radical breaking of taboos. Her permissive, equally rebellious and fragile watercolors with their focus on the body and sexuality, an- ticipate themes that would become important for action and body art of the 1960s and 1970s. In the process, Carol Rama maintained the delicate balance beween vulgarity and elegance, merciless directness and eccentric poetry. Her sensitive, often ironic drawings, collages, object pictures and watercolors, which the artist continues working on today, are equally shocking and elegant, rebellious and eccentric. The works by the artist who was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2003 Venice Biennale have previously been rarely shown outside Italy and are only now finding international recognition.
