Cristina Dias de Magalhães Equivalents. States of Existence
In her second book published by Kehrer Verlag,
the Luxembourg photographer Cristina Dias
de Magalhães explores the parallels between
her inner worlds and nature, inspired by Alfred
Stieglitz’s famous photo series Equivalents.
Through her richly layered images, the artist
processes personal challenges, transforming
the photographed subjects into striking met-
aphors for emotion, resilience, and change.
The creative drawings of her three daugh-
ters, combined with natural elements and
her photographed settings, offer a reflection
of her thoughts and emotions. Driven by her
own life story, the artist decided also to make
her photobook also accessible to visually
impaired individuals. Audio transcriptions of
the book therefore enable everyone to experi-
ence photography through inner images and
imagination.
