Beyond the main chain of mountains of the Himalaya lies the region of he so-called inner Dolpo. More or less isolated from the rest of the world, it is home to about 7,000 Dolpo-Pa. There are only few, solely Tibetan, settlements there, mainly situated near rivers. The entire region of Dolpo is bordered by 6,000 meters high chains of mountains and lies in a height between 2,300 and 4,300 meters. In more than 50 triplex illustrations Dierk Maass shows to us a world where just a few foreigners had access to till 1993. Swiss artist Dierk Maass (b. 1943) has been taking photographs for more than 30 years. His camera captures all that he encounters on his spectacular travels: overwhelming natural spectacles, otherworldly colors, grandiose rock formations. Experiences and impressions that are possible only through close and immediate contact with the landscape. As a mountaineer, he explores the Andes, the Alps, Alaska, Greenland, Africa, the Antarctics, and the Himalayas.
