Fabrizio Plessi Lava
LAVA is the title of reknown media artist Fabrizio Plessis new monumental installation: 30 basalt stone sculptures, each implanted with a monitor with crater-like openings, through which the digital lava shines. Plessis installation is one of the most non-theatrical and yet, perhaps one of the most poetic works of his entire œuvre. The still monumentality, capable of developing in the work, appears free from every pathos. LAVA is a quiet, powerful, and tremendously fresh work alike, which appears exaltedly unagitated, and yet equally spectacular. "A Lava to spark and relumine our memories. Our passions. Our emotions. Our roots. Our conscience. Our souls. Our origins. Our enthusiasm. Our intuitions. Our regrets. Our thoughts." (Fabrizio Plessi, 2006) This volume presents the installation in the context of the great hall of H2 – Zentrum für Gegenwartskunst im Glaspalast in Augsburg and also shows drawings for LAVA.
