Product information "Felix Kultau"

The Parser catalog accompanied the first large-scale institutional solo exhibition by the Städel student Felix Kultau (b. 1984), which took place in Spring at the Syker Vorwerk. The title Parser refers to a computer program that converts input into a format that can be used further processing, like parsing a sentence. Kultau's exhibition immerses the viewer in a complex web of references that challenges him to rethink what he knows or at least to try to follow a new train of thought. The artist's installations and light boxes made from everyday materials such as concrete, MDF, fluorescent tubes, or brass exude a revolutionary spirit. They are crossovers between different media that evoke a wide range of associations. Felix Kultau recycles bits and pieces of our collective media memory and casts them in a new context, in the process alluding to the darker sides of our prosperity and our high-tech, comfortable and beautiful media-made world.
