Product information "Franziska Hauser"

"It just takes one look to recognize the yearning that lingers over these pictures. There is yearning in the form, the coloration, the filters, and the multiple exposures. Yearning in the photographer's gaze at the views through the camera. Yearning for an indeterminate where-to – to describe such a state as a childhood utopia is as fitting as it is imprecise. As immaterial as a memory, that utopian nowhere that lies somewhere behind us, where we dwelled as children and which was bound to disappear. The idyll is the reflection of that yearning; in search of the child within (which stands opposite the children the photographer is looking at), she attempts to transport it into the picture. What we see are images in a test series on yearning, extending over years." (Thomas Martin) Franziska Hauser (b. 1975) studied set design and photography at the Berlin-Weissensee School of Art and Design and with Arno Fischer at Schiffbauerdamm. In 2008 she started writing for Berliner Zeitung, Nido, Brigitte, Das Magazin, and other publications. Her first novel Sommerdreieck (Summer Triangle), published by Rowohlt, will come out at the same time as this book of photography.
