Product information "Jürgen Stollhans"

Politics, business, war studies, aviation – these are just some of the themes Jürgen Stollhans treats in his versatile body of work. He has a special penchant for historical byways, the everyday cultural absurdities, and local peculiarities. In And now, back to Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Stollhans takes a look back at his place of birth. Here, the eastern Westphalian double city on the Ems River becomes the hub of a fascinating network of narrative strands, which the documenta 12 participant has for example sketched with school chalk across 18 large blackboards. Jürgen Stollhans was born in 1962 in Rheda/Westfalen. He studied painting with Norbert Tadeus in Münster and sculpture with Erich Reusch at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf. He lives and works in Cologne.
