Product information "Kunstmuseum Thun"

"Golden Days" presents a number of new works that the Swiss artists Francis Baudevin (b. 1964) and Dominik Stauch (b. 1962) developed especially for an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Thun. Music forms an important reference point for the two artists, their pieces frequently alluding to music movements from Rock 'n' Roll to Punk to New Wave. For his abstract, geometric color compositions, on canvas or painted directly onto the wall, Francis Baudevin uses logos from familiar medicine packaging, music labels or record covers. Dominik Stauch's work on the other hand uses a mix of photography, painting and drawing to conjure a dense world situated somewhere between abstraction, ornament and figuration. Sound sets the rhythm for the image sequences in his room installations, which often incorporate sculptural furniture elements. Serving as hinge between the conceptual realms of the two artists is the work "Golden Years" by the Dutch artist Daan van Golden, which is made up of 70 black and white newspaper pictures representing each year from the artist's birth to his 70th birthday.
