Swiss artist Maya Vonmoos belongs to the avant-garde of "computer art." By contrast with interactive Web art, however, she has used the computer from the very beginning as a "medium for a new kind of painting." All of her animated films and digital images are self-generated, i.e. they are constructed so to speak "out of nothing", completely artificial. The creation process is extremely time-intensive, but offers a huge degree of flexibility, representing a whole new realm of visual experience.
