Meike Redeker Through the Looking Glass
Under the title Through the Looking Glass, appropriated from the famous book by Lewis Carroll, Meike Redeker (b. 1983) brings together filmic works that also describe a sense of »being behind something« and are characterized by performative and narrative elements. She uses her direct environment as a story location and questions how it shapes individuals or society as a whole. The artist makes use of supposedly familiar situations, which cause irritation through the unusual actions of the performers. The filming camera is always part of the narrative and challenges us to engage with constructions of realities. In May 2019, the artist was awarded the Art Prize of the Lüneburg Regional Association for her work Ophelia.
