Product information "Monotonie ist schön"

Two important artists of 1960s Minimalism are compared and contrasted for the first time in this book: Charlotte Posenenske (1930 – 1985) and Peter Roehr (1944 – 1968). In the space of just a few years, each of the two friends created a stringent and carefully conceived oeuvre, before both decided in 1968 to set aside their artistic activities. Their works are prime examples of how maintaining a consistently radical attitude does not mean having to renounce the poetry of sensation. The beauty of monotony, the beauty of the repetition of the same motif, which through that process in its own special way becomes singular and seemingly effortless, means that their works always offer us unique new opportunities: to see, to recognize and to find orientation.
