The technological upheaval in photography has not only called into question the definition of photography, but also altered the profession of photographer and the use of the medium. The complete digitalization of the medium, its production and distribution, has shaken the traditional understanding of photography. The publication documents the symposium "A Medium in Transition – Producing and Collecting Photography", held by Museum Folkwang and the Wüstenrot Stiftung in Spring 2012, where the future of photography was discussed in a transnational perspective.
