Nelly Rudin Open Space
Color, Space, Surface: Swiss artist Nelly Rudin (b. 1928) is a mistress of reduction. She is one of the most important representatives of the second generation of Zurich Concrete Art. With her new pictorial types which first appear in 1976 and are continually developed ever since, such as image objects with painted frames and completely freestanding acrylic glass prisms, Rudin comes forth from the two-dimensional image surface into the three-dimensional space, giving important impetus to Concrete art. Rudin's repositionings show that in addition to providing objective clarity, Concrete art also has great potential for playful surprises.
