Paul Wiedmer Feuer und Eisen
Swiss artist Paul Wiedmer (*1947) has been working as a sculptor since the 1970s. Fire and iron have been his media of choice from the start and have since become his hallmark: tongues of flame and bright sparks shoot up out of horns and shrubs made of welded metal. Wiedmer plays variations on this fascinating yet frightening element, furnishing fire museums, building fire dragons and staging autos-da-fé. Alongside his fire-works he creates architectonic sculptures such as bridges or iron temples. In 1997 he established the sculpture park La Serpara in Civitella d'Agliano, situated in the hills near Bomarzo, Italy. This richly illustrated catalog accompanies a retrospective of Wiedmer'swork at the Museum Tinguely in Basel.
