Product information "Ulrike Crespo"

After Twilight (Kehrer 2011), a volume of bewilderingly beautiful pictures that tell of afterlight, and Ephemere (Kehrer 2012) dedicated to pictures of beautiful flowers, Ulrike Crespo ventures in her new book that no one has ever seen before in quite this way. Created in Ireland, China and the island of Sylt, the images are dominated by cold shades of white and blue, which unfold wondrous and singular effects in contrast to the gradations of gray that surround them. There is no subterfuge here, nothing ornamental, no beguiling beauty – only the earnest interplay of the elements. Crespo's "atmospheric photographic artworks" owe their evocative power to infrared photography, with which unusual, archaic-looking "colors" and effects can be generated. Cold Landscape assembles 117 images from a world that seems to have come to an end; they are suffused with silence, with only the wind blowing across the cold heart of nature. Cold Landscape is a photographic appeal to our sense of wonder.
