Venetia Dearden Somerset Stories – Fivepenny Dreams
Over the past few years, London photographer Venetia Dearden has been revisiting Somerset, a region known as the West Country of Great Britain, where she grew up and where her family still lives. This connection and recent disconnection have allowed her passion and curiosity for Somerset and its people to grow. She has been exploring the area to document the efforts and intentions of individuals and families living a life they believe in – one that reflects their ethics, voices, identity and individuality. Deardens pictures draw attention to peoples basic human qualities transcending and influencing their social and political existence. These intimate insights tell stories that are replicated across the western world, reflecting key issues of today: family, community, food production and consumption, and intentions of ethical living.
