Veto Zeitgenössische Positionen in der Deutschen Fotografie
VETO brings together eight artists whose photography goes beyond creating a likeness of reality, sounding out the conditions under which the contemporary photographic image treats its theme. Using artistic strategies such as digital construction, references to drawing, film images or painting, as well as the combination of old and new techniques, these photo artists resist being subsumed under the notion of a quickly captured world of (media) imagery. The photograph no longer serves to document reality, but instead formulates a belief in the artwork as an aesthetic object that follows its own laws. By contrasting different artistic approaches, this photo book can make a valuable contribution to pinning down the nature of a medium that is constantly in flux.
