Product information "Weserburg | Museum für Moderne Kunst"

In recent years, with a veritable deluge of series closed within themselves, Peter Welz has created an outstanding oeuvre which revolves in spiraling orbits around a constantly consistent center – the human figure in space. In the laboratory of his art, there occurs a networking of the highly varied media – video, sculptural architecture, painting, drawing, dance – with which he focuses upon the fundamental issues of sculpture and reflects on the work of artists like Samuel Beckett, Eadweard Muybridge, Francis Bacon, Medardo Rosso and Wilhelm Lehmbruck. Peter Welz (*1972) lives in Berlin. He studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, the Cooper Union in New York, and the Chelsea School of Art in London. He is one of the most outstanding artists in the young German art scene.
