Dierk Maass Tension° of' Seclusion''
The photographies of Dierk Maass are excursions with and towards another experience of seeing. As a passionate mountaineer he defines his surroundings with the camera and explores variations of breathtaking natural spectacles in the contrast to demure monuments of the human kind. Shanties in front of colorful vibrating deserts, paved roads forcing their way through colored landscapes of sand and stone, vacant constructing sites and unused cranes. Dierk Maass fragments his surrounding into pieces. The discovered world is dissected, cut into pieces and thrown into a new dialog with itself and the viewer. The art of Dierk Maass is contributed to the exploration of the unsought parts of the world, shown in an out of the ordinary angle. Swiss Photographer Dierk Maass (b. 1943) has been taking photographs for more than 30 years. His camera captures all that he encounters on his spectacular travels: overwhelming natural spectacles, otherworldly colors, grandiose rock formations. Experiences and impressions that are possible only through close and immediate contact with the landscape.
