Fabrizio Plessi Digital Islands 1970 – 1990
The publication Fabrizio Plessi – Digitale Inseln / Digital Islands accompanies an exhibition in the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen. For this exhibition, the media and concept artist realizes for the first time works that he has developed since the beginning of his career in the 80s and 90s, most of which have never been published before. The 20 room installations follow a stringent concept, but have a delicately poetic and even philosophical side, a touchingly simple pictorial language that convinces "old hands at art" as well as putting the viewer less familiar with modern art under their spell. The leitmotif and theme of all the works is water – as a resource and as a stream of life – a central, identity-creating aspect for a city located on the Rhine River, like Ludwigshafen.
