The H2 – Center for Contemporary Art in the Glass Palace opens its doors in May 2006 as Augsburg's new municipal art museum. The industrial character of the glass palace, a gigantic factory palace constructed at the beginning of the 20th century to house a cotton spinning mill, has been substantially preserved. The result is a not only vast, but also fascinating exhibition surface of more than 2000 m2 for young art for the new museum. Along with the permanent collection, here artists will also present temporary, site-specific installations, in dialog with and as a mirror of the permanent collection.
