Pierre Even Eden
The work French photographer Pierre Even did in Lanzarote last year is the result of various interests: first and foremost, photography; then landscape, one of emblematic grounds of its history. His 1970s childhood, marked by a politicized period, as well as an abstract connection with the history and aesthetics of South America, gave rise to the artist's fascination with unusual places, ranging from boundless nature to well-defined territories. Later, he discovered the American and Mexican photography of the 1930s, which left a significant mark on his further work. Throughout the time he has spent time in various parts of Spain. On the island of Lanzarote, he has been touched by lands, deserted and austere versus the banal tourist hotspots which give him a feeling of existence, and a feeling of possibility. Pierre Even (b. 1967) studied at the National School of Photography in Arles and has been working for magazines such as Frog, M le magazine du Monde, and Purple since 1993.
