The installation and concept artist Rolf Giegold (b. 1970) manages to combine scientific method and artistic intuition. He achieves this by means of meticulous research activities preceding the actual work, work on site, direct responses to found squares or spaces, and subtle strategies of intervention. These intercessions relate to societal questions and problems, to which he gives voice in his artistic installations. Giegold thereby works in all artistic media, but uses them in an extremely frugal and targeted manner.
