Product information "Susanne Wadle"

In the works of artist Susanne Wadle, commonplace things suddenly seem perplexing, and our familiar world disturbingly alien. The artist creates surreal imagery that sows seeds of doubt about our everyday certainties. Her organic-looking pieces, installations, performances and photography recall the famous surrealist Meret Oppenheim; both artists show an interest in the ambivalence of objects, standing as they do for multilayered feelings and experiences. In Wadle's work the unusual materials she chooses – fur, leather, soap and many others – point to the special role of the physical in her pictorial conception, which is dedicated to exploring the boundaries between self and world, between inside and outside. This catalog accompanies an exhibition of the artist's work at the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen.
