Product information "Thomas Kohl"

"There is no landscape. Landscape is a model made by man in order to understand nature," asserted painter Thomas Kohl in 1993. Ever since then, he has been trying to prove this thesis in his paintings: he depicts "landscapes" almost exclusively, deliberately employing all the classic techniques. The genre thus serves Kohl at once as a means for examining contemporary painterly strategies and as a topos between our historical and present-day images of nature.
