Zak van Biljon COLLECTOR'S EDITION: Modernising Nature
The Swiss-based photographer Zak van Biljon goes beyond the visible spectrum to open up a new, fascinating view of nature’s wonders. In Modernising Nature, he uses the technique of near-infrared photography, originally developed for military and agricultural applications. This makes it possible to visualize the invisible energy reflected by plants. The result is images of mesmerizing intensity and vibrancy that glow in bright electric pinks and reds, presenting nature in a never-before-seen incarnation. The appeal behind van Biljon’s book is as strong as his images: Viewers are invited to look at nature—in the age of digitalization and urbanization—from a new perspective and to recognize its true essence, far removed from digital filters.
