LICHTEMPFINDLICH Zeitgenössische Fotografie aus der Sammlung Schaufler SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen
LICHTEMPFINDLICH (Light Sensitive) is a series of exhibitions that present the photographic holdings of the Schaufler Collection, comprised of over 400 works by more than 50 artists. In this publication, the diverse and fascinating collection of photographs, featuring the Düsseldorf School, as well as Nobuyoshi Araki, Klaus Heider, and Wolfgang Tillmans, is presented for the first time. The primary interest of the collectors Peter Schaufler and Christiane Schaufler-Münch is not directed towards the medium and its history, but is rather an expression of their fascination with particular motifs and visual ideas, as well as their formal interpretation. Renowned photo and art historians shed light on the medium from different perspectives and provide an introduction to the subject matter based on various stylistic themes, including architecture, portraiture, the nude, and color. The work of each artist is illuminated in individual essays, complemented by an index of all photographs in the collection.
