Martina Köppel-Yang, Melanie Trede Becoming intense – becoming animal – becoming…

This publication documents an exhibition that took place within the framework of the project "Gender, Sexuality and the Body in a Transcultural World", which is part of the cluster of excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context: Shifting Asymmetries in Cultural Flows" at Heidelberg University (sponsored by the German Research Foundation). "Gender and Body in the Contemporary Arts" is one of the pivotal fields of transcultural encounters which are addressed in this volume. The publication features eleven artists from Asia and Europe whose work expands on understandings of body and gender. Cultural, religious and social difference and identity as well as power dynamics, representation, desire and space are the main topics discussed. The title refers to the concept of corps-sans-organes developed by Deleuze and Guattari.
