Mia Unverzagt Objekt Spur Erinnerung

In a self-critical appraisal of her own origins, Mia Unverzagt explores the stereotyped gender roles we have been handed down from previous generations. Taking her own personal background and family history as springboard, she studies social ties, highlights habitual social norms and reveals which themes are taboo in our society: age, decay and imperfection, which she colors with her own brand of humor and irony. Unverzagt confronts the viewer with things that people would rather not see, things that tend to be swept under the rug in good society. These unvarnished glimpses behind the facade, a focus on what's underneath the mask, is always at the center of her socially critical works. Mia Unverzagt studied in Saarbrücken and has taught classes at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Havana (Cuba) and the University of the Arts in Bremen (Germany). Her works are exhibited regularly in Europe and the USA.
