Philip Bußmann Pixelmondo

The artist Philip Bußmann (b. 1969 in Hanau) moved to New York in the mid-1990s and worked there for eight years as a video and graphic designer for the Wooster Group, a theater company known for its interdisciplinary productions. Since his return in 2002, he has created stage videos and stage designs for numerous international dance, theater and opera productions. In addition, he has also produced his own installations and performance and film projects. From his experiences in the theater world he has developed an intuitive approach that is reflected in his artistic work. His atmospherically dense art pieces often revolve around the theme of the human body and oscillate between the two poles of installation and performance, whereas his theater works usually form a springboard for a further consolidation of the material. The artist's book designed by Philip Bußmann accompanied an exhibition at the Ursula Blickle Foundation 2012. At the center of the solo show were room-filling video and sound installations as well as photographic works dealing with the relationship of the human body to space and time.
