Sarah Carp Related Donor / Donneuse apparentée

"I did this photographic work so as not to die myself, to exorcise the past and to engrave forever the memory of a loved one." Sarah Carp The very personal work of the Swiss photographer Sarah Carp tells a story of life, of sharing and of love. From the day she found out that her brother Henri had been diagnosed with leukemia, she accompanied him with her camera – until his death one year later. The photo series began as a private, contemplative study of their immediate daily surroundings – a chronicle that however leaves room for doubt and for a variety of possible outcomes. The combination of intimate portraits, landscape views and architectural photographs compellingly traces the expectations and hesitation felt when facing a world undergoing sweeping changes. Sarah Carp's pictures are a mix between reportage-like images and staged scenes, letting the viewer take part in what is ultimately a very personal fate. Sarah Carp (b. 1981) studied at the School of Photography in Vevey. She lives and works in Lausanne.
