Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast Faszinierende Dokumente

AFORK, the Archive of Artistic Photography of the Rhineland's Art Scene, was founded in 2003 by Stephan von Wiese. It is dedicated to exploring the depiction and transmission of the art history of the Rhineland from World War II up to our present day, with the city of Dusseldorf as one es- sential center. Today the collection holds nearly 6000 photographs span- ning the mid-1950s to the present. This catalog presents a selection of roughly 250 outstanding works from photographers including Ute Klophaus, Erika Kiffl, Benjamin Katz, Manfred Leve, Bernd Jansen and many others, enables an invaluable look into the recent art history of Dusseldorf and the Rhineland. Now-legendary events, such as the ZERO Festival on the banks of the Rhine, important Fluxus happenings in the early 1960s, or the the Eat Art restaurant founded by Daniel Spoerri in 1970 and much more can best – and sometimes only – be experienced today through these photographs.
