Work Fiction Visionen der Arbeit in Kunst, Film und Populärkultur

People have repeatedly pointed out that the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York was anticipated by Hollywood blockbusters depicting similar attacks on Manhattan and the destruction of the skyscrapers with their typical hyperbole, although no one could have known that the reality would turn out even more dramatic than fiction. Much speculation has been proffered as to the value of this cultural foreshadowing. Do producers of culture have a special nose for what's in the air? No one can doubt that artists aim with their works to draw people's attention to matters and connections that are granted too little notice. "Work Fiction" deals with artists' future visions of the working world in the context of science-fiction imagery, featuring works by bankleer, Eduardo Kac, My Robot Friend, Tatjana Preuss, Thomas Ravens, Oliver Ressler, Hans Scheirl, Surveillance Camera Players, Annette Wehrmann and The Yes Men.
